The team is made up of researchers with a background in applied metaphor research, applied linguistics and discourse analysis. The nine members of the team are based at the University of Extremadura (Fiona MacArthur, Rafael Alejo, Ana Ma. Piquer and Carolina Amador)), Birmingham University (Jeannette Littlemore), University of Limerick (Fiona Farr and Elaine Vaughan); University of Dalarna (Annelie Ädel) and the VU University Amsterdam (Tina Krennmayr). From October 2012 to June 2014, two research assistants (Antonia Gallego and Lynda Ortiz) joined the team. From February to April 2015, a new research assistant (Ana Terrazas) joined the team.
