Fiona MacArthur - Research Project Leader
Is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Philology (Faculty of Arts, Cáceres) at the University of Extremadura, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on the English language and applied linguistics
Her research interests are wide and varied, and include metaphor, vocabulary learning and pragmatics. She has co-edited the volume Metaphor in Use: Context, Culture and Communication (Amsterdam & Philadelphia: John Benjamins, 2012) and, since, 2006, has published a number of studies with Jeannette Littlemore on metaphor in foreign language learning.
She is currently leading this research project, which investigates the use of metaphor in office hours' consultations involving Spanish ERASMUS students studying at universities in Ireland, England, Sweden and The Netherlands.
